So previously airline passengers were not allowed to use their electronic devises during takeoff and landing. I am sure you have all been asked to "power down" at one time or another. This week Transport Minister Lisa Raitt, announced passengers will be able to use their portable electronic devices such as tablets, gaming consoles, laptops and your smart phones during take off and landing. However, you must keep these devices in a "non-transmitting" or "airplane" mode. The Canadian airlines have received this advanced notice and now they need to get their ducks in a row to make it happen. The US carriers has been allowing this since October 2013 and European carriers jumped on board in December.
More good news - earlier this year Air Canada and West Jet both announced they would be adding WI-FI access for passengers aboard their planes. Watch for this! Coming your way soon.
