As we are well into winter, you might be having thoughts of warmer climates, beaches and poolside beverages. “Just get me a one or two week reprieve from this and I can survive yet another prairie winter”. We are all thinking it and dreaming it.
More often than not the all-inclusive vacation is the choice. Direct flights, minimal expenses in destination and of course, all you can possibly eat and drink! It’s the ideal vacation for many of us.
However, the gratification of direct flights from Saskatchewan dramatically decreases our travel options. To consider a vacation that involves a connecting flight, or an overnight in Toronto or Vancouver by example, opens up many more options for sun and sand. Mexico and Jamaica are lovely but just for a change picture yourself in St.Lucia, St.Kitts or Martinique! These are stunningly beautiful sun drenched pieces of paradise. All are wrapped by the turquoise waters of the Eastern Caribbean.
A connecting flight or overnight hotel can open up unique and active destinations like Machu Picchu in Peru or the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador.
Oh my, go west and South East Asia and the entire South Pacific opens up to your imagination! You’ve heard about them and maybe even dreamed of them. How about Bali in Thailand, Fiji, or the islands within the Philippines or Indonesia! They too have sundrenched beaches and little umbrella drinks.
You won’t get these vacations for $699. You may spend an extra day of your vacation travelling. But, I am pretty sure you won’t get that ‘enough of this’ feeling you may experience after day 10 at the buffet restaurant.
Wherever you may decide to go, please make sure you have medical, trip cancellation or interruption insurance. My recent personal experience was an aircraft with a mechanical problem which meant missed connecting flights to Europe to catch a cruise ship. The cost to book other flights was $9,500.00. I never ask myself is it worth it!
If sun and sand are in your plans for this winter, contact your travel agent and get some pricing. Better yet, contact one of our travel advisors and get the detail you need to know. It makes travelling more enjoyable and far less stressful to get advice worth getting!
